British Travel Trade Fair a roaring sucess Posted in News by Mark Walker

This week we were exhibiting at the British Travel Trade Fair at the NEC in Birmingham.

The British Travel Trade Fair is the established exhibition dedicated to showcasing travel and tourism products and services from the UK and Ireland to a domestic and incoming audience.

At the show SelectMailer attracted a great deal of interest and praise for its simplicity. We are delighted to have more than 30 new corporate clients direct from the show and lots more to come we hope.

Customer Review Posted in News by Mark Walker

I'm using Selectmailer regularly to send info to our members, it's far easier than when I used to try to send them out in groups via Freeserve and even then it was always very hit and miss as to whether they arrived. The Selectmailer Newsletter also looks much more professional when members receive the updates from us.

If we want feedback from our members it works much better than our printed newsletter which we still do twice a year as not everyone is on email. For example we put an article in our autumn newsletter about on line booking asking for feedback from members and we got 2 replies. When we sent out the same info once we got Selectmailer we got 38 replies as it's much easier for members to click the reply button than pick up the telephone or write a letter.

The spying capabilities, sorry I mean the campaign reports it generates are really useful and provide a good insight into how interesting, or not, the email and links are to the people who are reading it.

I haven't found anything that needs to be improved. If you ever need a recommendation for it you know who to ask.

The figures in my reports are not 100% accurate, why? Posted in Questions/Answers by Mark Walker

In order for our system to report if a user has opened your email it requires a tiny image which, we embed in every email, to be loaded.

Some users have images turned off by default so unless they click on a link we do not actually know that they have opened your newsletter.

So, whilst your figures are accurate they can never be spot on due to the technicalities of the different email software out there.

Tip for avoiding image compression Posted in Questions/Answers by Mark Walker

If you are sending campaigns that include photos or other large images, here's a quick tip to improve the visual quality. SelectMailer will automatically resize images to match them to the width that is set in the template. We do a pretty good job of scaling images down, but as an automatic process, it is not always ideal. If you know that you want to use particular images, you can get better results by doing the resampling and scaling yourself. Then add the image at the correct size and avoid any compression from SelectMailer. When you need your images to look their best, custom resizing is the way to go.
